Welcome to Lake Ogawara -
home of the Misawa Sailing Club, a full fledged member of the US Naval
Sailing Association.
As you can see, Lake Ogawara is sorta shaped like a little Italy.
The lake is fed by rivers from the southwest, and empties into the
Pacific on the northeast side. It is very shallow on the edges,
probably only 10 feet deep as far as a 100 yards from shore. In
the center, it gets to about 70 feet. It sometimes freezes in the
winter, so it stays pretty cool until mid July. The bast is the
area around the runway on the bottom, center of the photo. On the
heel of the boot, (the southeast corner of the lake) just above the
little lake attached to Ogawara, you can see a
small brown dot on the shore. That is the base beach. |
